Dabo’s All In Team Foundation Awards Grant to Upstate Equine Therapy Center
Funds will help provide innovative, life-changing equine-assisted programs to special education students at West Oak Middle School
Dec. 5, 2018 – SENECA, S.C. – It’s not uncommon to hear Clemson’s head football coach Dabo Swinney reference famous horses. He has likened his players’ determination to win to Secretariat, the 1973 Triple Crown winner, for example. Recognizing that horses are also powerful difference-makers for people with special needs, Dabo’s All In Team Foundation gave Wild Hearts Equine Therapy Center a grant to help West Oak Middle School’s special education students.
Jessica Fry, founder of Wild Hearts Equine Therapy Center, said her non-profit organization and the Swinneys’ foundation share the same mission of changing people’s lives in the upstate.
“We can’t thank Dabo’s All In Team Foundation enough and we are so honored,” Fry said. “The funds will help us provide a semester of world-recognized therapeutic programs to West Oak’s special ed middle schoolers, helping them gain confidence, improve motor skills and have an unforgettable experience at Wild Hearts.”
Sessions will start in January and Fry’s team of facilitators will collaborate closely with West Oak faculty to tailor sessions specifically to the unique needs and goals of each participating student.
Fry added that Wild Hearts will soon kick off a major fund-raising campaign to make its programs accessible to more individuals with learning and physical disabilities, victims of abuse and veterans.
“We’re very thankful for the gifts from our community that have helped us expand,” she said. “We look forward to continuing to grow so we can keep up with the incredibly high demand for our programs and help many so many more upstate people.”
